How the service area works

Our home base is Draper, ZIP code 84020, in Salt Lake County. Everything is dispatched from that one 24/7 line, so a call from Sandy and a call from Alpine reach the same people. What changes from town to town is the water: different utilities, different creeks, different housing, and different ways a basement ends up wet.

We build a separate page for each town because homeowners search that way, and because the useful details really do differ. Each page below names the ZIP codes we serve there and explains the local conditions without padding. Dispatch is open every day, and same-day response is available when a crew is available.

Town by town

Sandy is the largest town on our list, with ZIP codes 84070, 84092, 84093 and 84094. Sandy City Public Utilities runs water and storm water, and most of the city is served for sewer by Sandy Suburban Improvement District. Basement and window well flooding after heavy storms is the pattern to expect there.

South Jordan uses ZIP codes 84095 and 84009. The city buys its drinking water from Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District, and sewer service comes from Jordan Basin Improvement District rather than the city. The city's own flood guidance points to the Midas Creek area and to neighborhoods near the Jordan River where groundwater can run high.

Riverton borders Draper on the west and uses ZIP code 84065. The city operates both its culinary water and a separate secondary irrigation system, so a leak in a yard line can come from a city-run system. Riverton also offers sandbags to residents, 25 per household.

Herriman uses ZIP code 84096. Four drainages run through the city, Wood Hollow, Rose Creek, Midas Creek and Butterfield Creek, and the city states that most of its flooding comes from rainstorms and microbursts. Hillside lots that slope toward a home are called out as the highest risk.

Alpine is across the Point of the Mountain in Utah County and uses ZIP code 84004. Alpine City runs its own water, pressurized irrigation, sewer and storm drain. Burn-scar flooding after the 2012 Quail Fire is part of the town's recent history, which is why runoff is a real concern there.

What to tell dispatch when you call

A good first call takes about two minutes and goes faster if you have a few facts ready. We ask for the address and ZIP, what happened, where the water came from, how much of the home it reached and whether the main valve is off.

  1. Your street address and ZIP code, so dispatch knows which town page applies.
  2. Where the water is coming from, and whether it has been stopped.
  3. Which rooms and floor levels are wet, and what the floors are made of.
  4. Whether the water came from a drain, toilet or the ground, since that changes the safety steps.
  5. Whether any water touched outlets, appliances or the electrical panel.

If water has touched the panel or outlets, call the utility or 911 first. Turn off power to wet areas only if the panel is dry and safe to reach.

Not on the list?

Water does not stop at town lines, and neither does the phone. If your address is in a neighboring community, call (385) 988-9410 and ask. Dispatch will tell you honestly whether a crew can reach you and what to do in the meantime. Have the street address and nearest cross street ready, because that is what a dispatcher needs first.

For what we do once a crew arrives, see our services page. The emergency water removal page is the best starting point if there is standing water, and water mitigation covers the drying that follows.

Common questions

Do you charge extra to travel to nearby towns?

Scope and price are explained before work starts, and distance is one of the things we discuss when you call. Ask dispatch about your address.

Is Alpine covered even though it is in a different county?

Yes, Alpine is on our list and is served from the Draper dispatch line. Utah County and Salt Lake County use different local offices for permits, so ask the building office in your town if work needs one.
